International Foundation Programme
To assist students taking part in our Sino-British credit transfer programmes and Master preparation programme, we have designed and are delivering a foundation programme to bridge the gap between Chinese and UK education practices and academic requirements. Focussing primarily on language and research skills the programme enables students to achieve their maximum potential in the UK and make the best use of the knowledge already gained in China.
English World - Macmillan English Campus (MEC)
English World is a new programme, founded by OEIM, to offer on-line English programmes to educational institutions, corporations, teachers and students in China.
The company’s mission is to become a leading supplier of such programmes among its chosen customer segments. This aim will be supported by developing the English World brand alongside Macmillan English Campus and leveraging OEIM’s extensive education and business network in the provinces of Sichuan, Jiangsu and farther afield.
Currently English World offers two learning platforms called Premium Learning and Guided learning. Premium Learning provides classroom tuition blended with on-line study, whilst Guided Learning provides on-line study with tutor support through the website. English World members can choose courses that cover all levels and major areas of English language study.
Staffordshire University Degree Programmes at Chengdu University of Technology
This was the first programme to be established by OEIM and is now very successful with rigorous academic standards, a very high quality of teaching and student pass rate.
Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT) and Staffordshire University (SU) collaborate in running the programme which is approved by the Sichuan Education Department, which awards both Chinese and British Diplomas (Sichuan education foreign affairs Department, Approval document: [2004] 226th). The programme integrates the high-quality resources and practices of Britain's higher education system with those of China to educate students and give them the international perspective needed in today’s globalized world.
OEIM was instrumental in establishing links between the two partner universities and at obtaining the necessary Chinese government approval. We have a contract with Staffordshire University (SU) to manage the daily operation of their franchised and quality assured programmes, which are delivered on campus at Chengdu University of Technology (CDUT). This includes all programme delivery, student assessment, the recruitment and selection of teaching staff and all administration, including promotion of the programme in China.
2+2 or 3+1 Collaborative Programme between Staffordshire University & Southwest Jiaotong University
We organised a Sino-British credit transfer exercise between Staffordshire University (SU) and Southwest Jiaotong University (SWJTU). As a result of this exercise, the two Universities accept and recognise many of each other's modules as being equivalent. Second or third year students of Southwest Jiaotong University, who achieve the appropriate competency in English, can directly enter level 2 or 3 of matching undergraduate courses at Staffordshire University and study for a UK degree. As Southwest Jiaotong University also recognises SU's courses, students who pass the UK programme are also awarded a Bachelor’s Degree from Southwest Jiaotong University.
Top-up Degree Preparation Programme
Staffordshire University – with assistance from OEIM – collaborates with the Sichuan Education Service Centre for International Exchange (SESCIE) to run top-up preparation programmes. Founded in 2006, SESCIE is an education institution under the direct supervision of the Education Department of Sichuan Province, which provides educational services to the Sichuan education community. Its major tasks are to develop educational exchanges and cooperation, and process the related procedures of State Scholarship Programmes and the Provincial Scholarship Programmes.
The Top-up preparation programme prepares Chinese Diploma students for Top up Degrees in the UK. At present in China, the number of graduates who hold a Diploma Certificate is increasing dramatically each year and this programme is designed to enhance the employment prospects of successful students by giving them the more highly regarded BA qualification.
